Isle of Wight Festival 2009

Isle of Wight Festival logo 2009Following months of anticipation, the Isle of Wight Festival will be with us this weekend! This section provides information to help Island residents and visitors enjoy this internationally-renowned event.

Now in its eighth year since its reprisal back in 2001, the festival is once again bringing world class acts to Seaclose Park at Newport – with The Prodigy, Stereophonics and Neil Young headlining the event this year.

However the festival is not just of cultural benefit to the Island, it is estimated the three-day concert boosts the Island’s economy by as much as £10 million a year. The importance of the event to the Island is recognised by the council which is pleased to help festival organisers Solo, where it can to ensure the massive task of organising the event is as problem-free as possible.

This year's festival is encouraging everyone to think green and will be offering bicycles for hire at the ferry ports so that festival-goers can get to the event. Otherwise, it's a short shuttle bus ride to the site where a whole host of famous A-list bands play.
