Locallife Isle of Wight
Helping the Island to work with the Internet
Locallife Isle of Wight is a new Newport based company which
offers a complete on-line directory to find local information covering all
aspects of community, business and leisure across 1800 categories. Alongside
the 325 Locallife directories in the UK, Locallife has a web design division
which offers fixed price design services from starter packages through to
e-commerce websites as well as bespoke solutions.
In August 1999 Locallife began developing their website initially covering
just one area, Southend-on-Sea in Essex. The company continued to flourish
and grow and in the Autumn of 2004 the first Locallife franchise began.
The Locallife site aims to provide a complete guide to life in the United
Kingdom. It is in fact not just one site, but a whole network of sites each
covering a particular area. The individual sites are identical in design and
layout, but each has its own content and local flavour.
Click on www.locallife.co.uk/isleofwight and you will find information from Yacht Clubs to Nursing Homes, Spanish Restaurants to Mobile Discos, details of schools, local events, tradesmen and businesses and much, much more.
In addition to all the local content you will also find links to the very best national websites, so there is no need to remember hundreds of website addresses.
Locallife is organised
into nine main categories, each colour-coded for clarity and ease of use.
The site has been designed with both internet novices and experts in mind,
with a variety of different ways to get to the information you require. The
site also offers a site search by subject or name or a Street Index to enable
information to be found by street.
The development of the site is ongoing, and details of local organisations and businesses can be submitted to improve the listings in any area, at any time. Unlike many other local directories, www.locallife.co.uk/isleofwight is more than just a local business or entertainment guide. The aim is to link in every organisation and amenity website across the island, whether it be business, entertainment or community related. All community/non-commercial websites can link to Locallife Isle of Wight free of charge.
