The Social Services and Housing Directorate provides an emergency service for people who need care or are homeless. If a problem cannot wait until the next working day, the Directorate can assess a persons needs and give advice, information or in urgent circumstances provide care and protection. The emergency service helps children and families in crisis, and adults who are in serious personal difficulties or need urgent personal care due to age, illness or disability. The staff providing the service share the Directorate’s aim of keeping children and adults in need in their own homes and community where it is safe to do so, with a range of specialist emergency services including homecare and support to families. The Directorate also provides an emergency service for people who are homeless and in need of emergency accommodation.
