An Isle of Wight Public Health Prospectus 2013-14:

Increasing Physical Activity and Improving Mental Health (issued in January 2013)

 

The Island’s Public Health Service has published a grant-making Prospectus that invites organisations and groups to bid for grant funding. The funding is to be used to deliver a number of important local health outcomes for adults.
There are a number of physical activity outcomes for adults. These include increased involvement in physical activity and encouraging healthy outdoor activities
There are also a number of mental-health related outcomes for adults. These are reducing social isolation, improving self-reported wellbeing, reducing suicide rates and reducing health inequalities.
Applicants should have the knowledge skills and capacity needed to deliver their proposals. Proposals can involve communities, groups or individuals. The Public Health Services will also require regular monitoring and information about how well grant funded activities are working
The total funding available is £60,000 to be allocated to a number of programmes and must be used within 12 months of an award being made.

An Isle of Wight Council Prospectus 2012-15:

Strategic Arts Commissioning

The Isle of Wight Council Arts Development Service invites an organisation or consortia to be our commissioning partner and a focal point for arts development on the Island.
The Isle of Wight Council’s invites organisations to bid to deliver a number of outcomes set out in the prospectus. The outcomes include ensuring that arts funding contributes to the Island’s economic and social sustainability, improving the value gained from its current investment in local arts and creative industries, and the ability to demonstrate the impact made by council funding.
The Prospectus offers successful bidders a funding agreement, leading to a grant of up to £90,000 over a period of three years. Particular value will be placed on bids that offer innovation, as well as the potential for partnership and consortium working between organisations. For example, a successful bid may include opportunities for arts organisations and enterprises from different sectors to use their combined ideas and resources to deliver our outcomes.

An IW Public Health Service Prospectus:

Adult Community Weight Loss Management Services 2011– 2012

The Island’s Public Health Service needs partner organisations who can help deliver an important outcome in return for grant funding.
Obesity is associated with some of the most prevalent diseases of modern society. Excess weight puts people at risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and causes of cancer. In return for grant funding, we want adults who are overweight (BMI>25 to BMI <39) to be supported to achieve weight loss through accessible programmes that are free or low cost to participants.

The total funding available was £30,000 to be awarded to one or more partner organisations. This funding to be used within 12 months of an award being made. To see an archived copy of this prospectus, click here.

The closing date for applications was 14/10/11.

This Prospectus resulted in five shortlisted bids. Two organisations shared the available funding and other support from the public health service, providing community support awareness, and direct help to people wanting to lose weight.

 

An Isle of Wight Council Prospectus:

Adult and Community Learning 2011

This Prospectus, issued by the Council's Adult Learning Service, invited bids for grant funding from voluntary and community organisations, as well as enterprises of all types. Grants were awarded to bids that help the Council deliver Adult Learning activities. The Prospectus set out the outcomes that the Council asked providers to deliver in exchange for funding.

The Closing Date for applications was the 29th of July 2011. The grant allocation panel allocated funding to successful bidders in September.

Twenty bids totalling almost £100,000 were recieved from voluntary organisations, social enterprises and local small businesses. The bids ranged in value from £300 to over £13,000.

 

An Isle of Wight Council Prospectus:

ReSource: Safe Beaches 2011-14

This Prospectus invited local groups, organisations and enterprises of all types to bid for grants to be used to deliver public services to the community.

Applications for grant funding were invited from organisations that can work with the Council as trusted partners, who will help the council ensure that people using the island’s busiest beaches during the summer season are safe.
