Democracy and Decision Making

Council Constitution

The Constitution sets out how the Council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people. Some of these processes are required by the law, while others are a matter for the Council to choose.

Councillors Details and Allowances

Details of Councillors and their appointments to cabinet and committee can be viewed here along with details of the Councillors allowance scheme, reports from the Independent Remuneration Panel who set the level of allowances each year and the actual amounts paid to Councillors each year.

Committee Papers and Decision Making

The council publishes the Committee agendas, papers and minutes of all its committee as well as papers relating to any decisions made under delegated authority here. This includes papers for the Audit Committee who receives reports from the external auditors. Performance reports detailing our achievement of strategic objectives and financial targets are made to cabinet on a quarterly basis and can be accessed via the link above.
