Adults Review & Quality Assurance Team

Team Information

As a result of a large number of people receiving support via Adult Social Care, approximately 1700 cases remain open, but are managed within a review system.

We recognise the importance of robust and timely reviews, in:

  • preventing crisis or breakdown of support
  • ensuring the quality of the support provided
  • ensuring that support continues to meet the outcomes the individual has identified
  • ensuring that council resources are invested at an appropriate level to meet assessed and eligible need.
  • Identify potential safeguarding concerns.

We aim, by implementing a dedicated review team, to enhance reviews both in terms of frequency and scope.  This is both Personal Budget reviews as well as Residential and Nursing Home reviews.

To ensure individuals are safeguarded, whilst being fully enabled to take risks, safeguarding will need to underpin all of these functions. The team will be closely linked with Quality Assurance unit, which will cover a range of areas, e.g. accreditation of providers, regular audits. This is to reassure customers when arranging services, but also supports the Council’s safeguarding duties.

Both Safeguarding and Quality Assurance will feed into the work being done by Strategic Commissioners to ensure the market is being developed around any gaps identified.
