What are we commissioning during 2012-2013?
The role of the commissioner is to ensure public money is spent to provide services directly to those that need support to keep safe and well.
The role of the commissioner is to ensure this support and these services provide the right support that works, at that right time and in the right place to those children, young people, families, foster carers, adopters and those who are adopted that need support to keep safe and well.
There are three commissioners employed by children’s social care. These are new roles introduced last year. Already they have:
The commissioner for children and families commissions services that provide early help to families for example through the Children’s Centres and parenting classes.
The commissioner for short term interventions commissions services that provide support to help children stay with their families and provides support to protect children either within their families or if this is not possible, in care.
The commissioner for longer term interventions commissions services that provide support to children and young adults with disabilities and their families. They also provide support to children, young people and their families that cannot live together, to foster carers, to people who want to adopt and to children and adults that are adopted.
Commissioning Intentions document will be available to view here soon.
