Service Description: Citizenship Ceremonies are held on the Isle of Wight on a monthly basis for people who have had their application for British Citizenship accepted. Every applicant is required to swear or affirm an oath of allegiance to the Crown and make a promise to uphold the values and laws of the UK. Each citizen is welcomed by the Chairman or Deputy Chairman of the Council.
Answer: During the ceremony the new citizen will have to swear the Oath or make the Affirmation by following the Superintendent Registrar who will lead the Ceremony. You will receive a copy of the words spoken during the ceremony to ensure that you can make yourself familiar with the words you will have to say. The Isle of Wight Council will provide you with a passport holder and certificate to commerate your new British Citizenship.
