Service Description: Fostering is substitute family care for children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to live with their own families. Services available via the Fostering Service are Long Term Fostering, Short Term Fostering, Respite Care, Day Care Providers, Family Link and Combined Accomodation Scheme (CAS). The service currently consists of 3 Units and a Fostering Duty Worker.
Answer: Age is not the primary consideration; it is about your ability to meet the needs of the children that you will be looking after. We have some carers in their mid to late twenties and others who are in their sixties. Life experience is the important issue, so you are unlikely to be ready in your early twenties, although this is not impossible. At the other end of the scale, many carers who are retired have a lot to offer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
