Your FAQ

Question: If a property has been empty for years, what can the council do about it?

Answer: The council has powers such as Empty Dwellings Management Orders and other enforcement action it may take but in order to take action against an owner the council must have contacted the owner, discussed the reasons why the property is empty and attempted to work with the owner to find solutions to return the property back to active use. If these methods do not work then the council may consider enforcement action. If you know of a long term empty property please inform us by using our online report facility. - Related Link
