Service Description: Residential and nursing home care provides 24 hour care for people who can’t manage living in their own home, even with support from home care services. Nursing home care provides nursing care by qualified nurses or under their supervision.

Question: What types of care homes are there?

Answer: There are two main types of homes available both providing 24 hour care for residents.

Residential Care Home - Accommodations typically consist of a private or shared bedroom with a private or shared bathroom and access to common rooms. Services offered to residents include daily meals, medication management, personal care assistance, and activities.

Nursing Care Home - provides nursing care by qualified nurses, or under their supervision. It is helpful for people who are ill, injured or frail.
