Food Business - Food Safety Regulations


Service Description: There are many regulations that control the receipt, handling, processing, storage and distribution of foods to ensure that it is wholesome and fit. The regulations and Food Safety Act 1990 also apply to drink. It is qualified environmental health staff who ensure that food businesses comply with these regulations.

Question: How can I make a complaint about an item of food I have bought?

Answer: You can contact Environmental Health (Tel: 01983 823000 or send an e-mail to [email protected]) Give relevant details and an officer will call you back to discuss the complaint with you and advise on the most appropriate course of action. Alternatively you could bring it to our offices at Jubilee Stores, The Quay, Newport, Isle of Wight. If the complaint item is a foreign body (e.g. piece of hair, insect) please bring it AND the food in which it was found. If you have a receipt for the food item so much the better,
