Answer: Planning Applications can be controversial and the decision made by the Local Planning Authority (LPA) can sometimes lead to an appeal. Appeals may be made for a number of reasons, but most are made because the LPA has refused Planning Permission or Listed Building Consent. An appeal should be the last resort and would normally only arise after unsuccessful negotiations with the Development Control section. Only the person who made the planning application can appeal the Local Planning Authority's decision. In England, appeals are made to the Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN, which is part of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Further advice and guidance is contained within the Planning Inspectorate’s website, but should you wish, you can write to the Inspectorate at the address given above or, alternatively, contact them by telephone on 01173 726372 - Related Link
