Your FAQ

Question: I believe I do not need Planning Permission for work I wish to undertake. Can I obtain confirmation in writing?

Answer: Yes, you will need to apply for a 'Certificate of Lawfulness' for a proposed use / development. This involves the submission of forms, plans and a fee. Should the work be judged to be permitted development, you will be issued with a formal certificate which can be used when you come to sell the property. The Planning Department aim to deal with all applications of this nature within 8 weeks of submission.

NOTE: You are advised to check whether Building Regulation Approval is required for your proposals. - Related Link
