Your FAQ

Question: Please tell me about the "Absent Vote Refresh"

Answer: Reason for this form
Absent vote security measures require you to provide a fresh specimen signature if you last supplied a signature over 5 years ago from the date of this notice.

Do I have to enter my Date of Birth?
No. This is completely optional. To keep your absent vote you only need to provide a fresh signature.

What happens if I do not return the form?
If no fresh signature is received by Electoral Services by 12th March 2012 you will lose your entitlement to vote in this way. You would then have to cast your vote in person at your polling station or make a new application. Exceptions apply if the polling day of an election you are entitled to vote at is within 6 days of 12th March 2012.

Why do I have to give these details?
The personal details you provide on this form will be checked against those we already hold to ensure that your right to vote cannot be used by anyone else. They will be used for no other purpose.

What if I cannot sign the form?
If you have a disability which means that you either cannot provide a signature or sign in a consistent and distinctive way, or are unable to read and write, please contact us.
