Your FAQ

Question: How do I find out what Department within Highways and Transport is dealing with a specific scheme?

Answer: There are four main sections within Highways and Transport who undertake Civil Engineering works.
1) Maintenance – This section looks after the existing highway network
2) Traffic – This section deals with accident remedial measures, signing and road markings, proposed footways etc.
3) Structures - This section deals with highway bridges, retaining walls and culverts
3) Design – This section deals with the larger proposed schemes and are the internal consultants to Engineering Services and therefore undertake works for all sections. However our main Client for the majority of our schemes is the Traffic Section.

It is therefore advised that the Highways and Transport Call Centre (01983 823777) be the first point of call, they will then forward you on to the relevemt Project Manager.
