Your FAQ

Question: How do I find out if a tree is protected or not?

Answer: The best way to check if any tree or woodland is protected is to contact the Trees Section of the Council. An answer can normally be given over the phone, and there is no cost to the enquirer, in the case of investigating planning conditions this can take 24 hours. To contact the Trees Section please telephone (01983) 823893 or e-mail [email protected].

Trees protected by Tree Preservation Orders or in Conservation Areas (but not planning conditions) can also be searched online at any time, and the original order documents can be viewed. - Related Link
