Disabled Parking Bays

Service Description: The provision of on-street disabled parking bays. Applications for disabled bays can be submitted to the Network Management and Improvement section of the Highways Department. However, due to a large backlog of applications, limited resources and budget restrictions, there is a lengthy waiting list and it is not possible to give timescales as to when a bay will be painted. Alternatively, you can pay to have a disabled bay, although the timescale from receiving the application to the painting of the bay is currently around 2-3 months.

Your FAQ

Question: Can I pay for a Disabled Bay?

Answer: Yes, as long as you meet the criteria. The cost is £77.55 which will be processed within 4 - 8 weeks of the application & fee being provided. However, this does not mean that you own the disabled bay or have exclusive use. The payment purely means that you do not have to wait until you reach the top of the waiting list, which is currently six months. Please be aware that Adverse weather conditions can effect the contractors programme of works, and at times this can mean any lining works (such as marking a disabled bay, even if it has been paid for privately) are delayed.
