School Transport Eligibility


Service Description: This service provides free or concessionary home to school transport for pupils aged 5 to16, post-16 school leavers and children with Special Educational Needs. The School Admissions Team on 01983 823455 can assist with any advice and guidance.

Your FAQ

Question: My child is staying on in the 6th form at school. How do I apply for a subsidised bus pass?

Answer: • If your child was in receipt of a bus pass in Year 11 you will be contacted direct by School Admissions prior to the time your child is due to transfer into the 6th form. Application forms are available from:
• Customer Services Centre, County Hall
• School Admissions on 01983 823455
• A form can be downloaded from our website using the link provided.

• The completed form and your cheque must be returned to School Admissions, County Hall, Newport for it to be assessed.
• If you apply and qualify for a subsidised bus pass it will be sent to your home address before the beginning of the term.

If you are on low income financial support to assist with the purchase of a termly bus pass may be available from the 16-19 Bursary Fund. Any enquiries or requests for such assistance should be made to the appropriate school / college / training provider that your child will be continuing their education / training with - all of whom have a policy setting out what criteria they use to establish eligibility.
