I.O.W Coastal Visitor Centre


Service Description: The Isle of Wight Coastal Visitors Centre opened in August 1998 in order to provide an accessible point of contact for anyone with an interest in the Island's coastline. The Visitors Centre comprises 10 themed rooms each examining a different aspect of the Island's coastline and its management. These range from the geology and scenery to the plant and animal life that inhabit the varied coastline as well as the marine and inter-tidal archaeology. The Visitors Centre is able to offer an extensive education programme relating to the coastline, habitats and geohazards.

Question: What facilities are available to students at the Coastal Visitors Centre?

Answer: As well as a number of comprehensive displays, the Coastal Visitors Centre has a comprehensive library on coastal and ground movement issues. The library contains more than 800 journals and books. Although these are not available for loan, there is desk space for students to study the books in the library and photocopying is available also. No booking is required. There is a charge of ten pence per A4 sheet for photocopying. - Related Link
