Your FAQ

Question: What should I do about Dutch elm disease on private land?

Answer: This serious tree disease has affected millions of trees in Britain since the late 1960s and the Isle of Wight is severely affected. There is no legal obligation to control or report Dutch Elm Disease. However anyone with infected trees is strongly advised to fell them. The council does not do work to elm trees on private land, nor does it provide any funds for landowners to do so. It does remove dead and infected elm trees on its own land. - Related Link
