Registration of Births


Service Description: To register a birth and obtain certificates. Both parents must attend together if they are not married, to be named in the register entry. When registering twins a double appointment is required. Re-registrations to add father's details if not given when first registered or to show that Mother and Father are now married to one another if not married at time of registration.

Answer: If your parents were working for the British Armed Forces or in the Diplomatic Service,or if you are unsure, contact the General Register Office Overseas Registration General Enquiries on 0300 123 1837 option 1
