Building Control


Service Description: The main function of Building Control is to ensure that new building work meets the requirements of the Building Regulations. These Regulations cover matters such as structural stability, fire safety, conservation of fuel and power and access and facilities for disabled persons.

Question: Who enforces the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)?

Answer: Any person who considers that they have been discriminated against must bring a civil action against the persons responsible for the building. The DDA is not enforceable under Building Control legislation.
