Food Hygiene Rating Scheme


Service Description: The scheme help consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food by giving them information about the hygiene standards in restaurants, cafés, takeaways, hotels and food shops. The scheme also encourage businesses to improve hygiene standards. The overarching aim is to reduce the incidence of foodborne illness.

Question: I’m worried about the rating given to a shop where I’ve eaten and bought food. What should I do?

Answer: Where non-compliances with food hygiene regulations are discovered by the Council’s environmental health officers, action is taken to secure compliance in accordance with our enforcement policy.
