Service Description: Fostering is substitute family care for children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to live with their own families. Services available via the Fostering Service are Long Term Fostering, Short Term Fostering, Respite Care, Day Care Providers, Family Link and Combined Accomodation Scheme (CAS). The service currently consists of 3 Units and a Fostering Duty Worker.
Answer: No, carers can be single, married or in long-term relationships. Fostered children come from all sorts of family backgrounds, traditional families, where they have a father and mother figure, step-parent families and some children have been living with their grandparents or other members of their extended family. For this reason, our carers are representative of the community from which fostered children come.
