Food Business - Food Safety Regulations


Service Description: There are many regulations that control the receipt, handling, processing, storage and distribution of foods to ensure that it is wholesome and fit. The regulations and Food Safety Act 1990 also apply to drink. It is qualified environmental health staff who ensure that food businesses comply with these regulations.

Question: I want to start a food business on the Isle of Wight - what do I have to do?

Answer: Contact Environmental Health on 823000. We can offer practical advice, a food registration form and guidance.
Anyone starting a new food business must register at least 28 days prior to opening. Registration forms can be obtained from the Food Safety Section or can be completed online via the related link. There is no charge for registration.
