Registration of Births


Service Description: To register a birth and obtain certificates. Both parents must attend together if they are not married, to be named in the register entry. When registering twins a double appointment is required. Re-registrations to add father's details if not given when first registered or to show that Mother and Father are now married to one another if not married at time of registration.

Question: What do I need to bring when I re-register my baby's birth after my marriage to baby's father?

Answer: You must bring in the relevant form (obtainable from the Register Office) completed, signed, and dated by both parents, plus your marriage certificate and baby's birth certificate. You will also need to bring sufficient funds to purchase any replacement certificates you may need. The cost of each cerificate is £4.00 on the day of re-registration and £10.00 after the day of registration.
