Your FAQ

Question: Do the council give grants to help with refurbishing empty properties?

Answer: The Isle of Wight Council does not provide grants to help with refurbishing empty properties. However, there are ways that we can assist, such as advising on obtaining permissions for conversions, providing VAT exemption certificates if the property has been empty for longer than ten years, advice on where to go for 'buy to let' mortgages and advising on the best options such as selling or letting. If you would like to discuss these options please contact our Empty Properties Officer; Will Taylor on 01983 823040.
