Service Description: This service provides confidential sexual health information, advice and support to young people. This services is delivered by staff, comprising of employees from the Isle of Wight Council, South Central Connexions and the Isle of Wight Primary Care Trust.

Answer: Young women under 16 are only entitled to child benefit in their own right once the baby is born. Parents of teenage mothers may be able to claim specific benefits on the behalf of the young woman. Generally 16 and 17 year olds cannot claim benefits until they reach 29 weeks of pregnancy. There is a specific training course for pregnant teens which pays a training allowance. If a young person does not live with her parents she may qualify for benefits. 18s and over may qualify for benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance or Income Support if they are not working. - Related Link
