Abandoned Vehicles

Service Description: Each year in the United Kingdom, approximately 2 million vehicles reach the end of their life, either through age or becoming unusable after involvement in an accident, however, around 3 million vehicles are abandoned in England each year. Abandoned vehicles are expensive to remove, have a negative impact on the environment, look unsightly and can lower the quality of life in neighbourhoods.

Your FAQ

Question: Can the Council remove vehicles from Private Land?

Answer: Yes, the Council can remove vehicles from private land with written authorisation from the landowner. If we are unable to obtain this permission a 15-day notice is posted on the land, giving the landowner the opportunity to object. If no objection is received within this time, the Council will proceed with the removal of the vehicle.
