Pollution Control - Water


Service Description: The council works with the Environment Agency in a number of ways to prevent or control water pollution. This is done by prompt reporting of incidents, ensuring that emissions from industries controlled by the Council are properly controlled and by preventing pollution of water by dealing with any contamination of land.

Question: There is pollution in a river, lake or stream - what can I do?

Answer: Pollution incidents in open water are dealt with by the Environment Agency. As soon as you are aware of pollution going on, please contact the Environment Agency on their emergency reporting line on 0800 80 70 60.
