Service Description: The Isle of Wight Council Highways Department at Engineering Services are responsible for notifying members of the public of temporary traffic management such as road closures, diversions, lane closures, temporary traffic lights and possible traffic disruption as a result of road works that are underway or programmed to take place on the Island.

Question: How do I apply for Temporary Traffic Lights and how much does it cost?

Answer: To apply for temporary traffic lights you can either apply on line or request a form to be sent to you via fax or post. If the works are not of an urgent nature, a full seven days notices must be given. On major routes 28 days notice is required.

There is currently no charge for two way temporary traffic lights - however, a bond maybe required if the system required is complex.
If three or four way traffic lights are required then there is a charge of £190.00.
If a set of permanent traffic signals will be affected by the works, then a charge of £190.00 will be made to turn them off and on again.
