Performance & Assessment
This area of the website includes information regarding the Isle of Wight Council performance management arrangements. There are links to the
key assessments (both current and historical),
quarterly performance reports to Cabinet & Scrutiny and
business planning arrangements within each of the council service areas.
The Isle of Wight Council actively monitors and reports on performance levels against a performance management framework. This framework measures the delivery of the
Corporate Plan and underpins many of the Council’s key strategies. Its purpose is to ensure that appropriate and practical arrangements are in place to plan, deliver and review Council activities both ‘on the ground’ and at a strategic level in the most effective way.
The core principles of the Performance Management Framework are to:
- Understand and communicate with our residents
- Ensure that the decision-makers are supported with the provision of good quality and timely performance data
- Reduce the burden of data collation and reporting with the use of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely) performance measures that tell us what we need to know
- Ensure that our internal processes of business planning and regular performance review join up and support the organisation in all aspects of improvement
Performance Management is an essential element on the Councils’ journey towards excellence. It helps to clarify the priorities, objectives and targets of the authority, identify problem areas or barriers to improvement, highlight resources required to achieve goals, identify training and development needs of individuals and lead the Council to meeting the expectations of residents and improving outcomes for the local community.
