Services for Adults on the Isle of Wight

Online Questionnaire for Youth Connexions Reorganisation

In April 2008 the Isle of Wight Council took over the management of the Connexions service which joined with the Isle of Wight Council’s youth and community service to form Youth Connexions.

Our aim is to raise the number of young people experiencing and benefiting from youth opportunities and activities by providing a high quality service which is co-ordinated, coherent, integrated and meets the 21st century needs of all young people on the Island. To do this we need to restructure the services provided by Youth Connexions.

We are carrying out an online survey to find out what the young people across the Isle of Wight need. The results will be used as part of the consultation to reorganise Youth Connexions from April 2010.

Please note if you are a young person aged 13 - 19 or up to 25 if you have a disability or learning difficulty, please complete the 'Young People's Version' by following the link.

There are also copies and paper versions of the same online questionnaire being distributed to all the libraries on the Island and three ‘question time’ panels led by young people are to be held on 8th, 15th and 21st September. These will be based in High Schools and will run from 15:30 to 17:00 followed by an open session to members of the public, Local Management Committees and Town and Parish Councils to come along and hear what young people have debated, running from 17:30 to 19:00.

These events will be recorded and additional school home transport is being provided.

A video diary room will be travelling around the Island to hear what children and young people have to say about having things to do and places to go plus there is a facebook forum that is being established.

These events will culminate at the Big Day Out 2009 held at Moa Place in West Wight on Sunday 11th October.
