What is a Help Centre?

Help Centres are located in convenient locations across the island to enable residents and visitors to access a wide range of services from a single point of contact.

At a Help Centre you:
  • Request a Council service
  • Access other partner services (where they are available)
  • Access information
  • Carry out other Council Business.

Help Centre Advisers are available to deal with enquires about a wide range of Council and other public-related services. They will resolve enquires at the first point of contact wherever possible, using a range of communication media including telephone, e-mail, face to face, fax etc. This means that all your Council business can be dealt with in one place.
What types of services are available in the Help Centres?

Services vary between centres. Please click on each individual location to see full range of services available. We are adding more services as we develop but currently all centres offer the following:
  • Housing Benefit advice, applications and verification
  • Council tax advice, applications and verification
  • Car Park permits
  • Local planning applications
  • Electoral register for the area
  • Contact your local Councillor
  • Access to outreach services such as debt outreach, citizens advice bureau, RELATE
  • Display and disseminate council information for the public, notices and displays
  • Issue application forms for the Housing Register
  • Access the Housing Register list
  • Vast range of free leaflets
  • Offer advice/guidance about any Council service

There are currently four Help Centres. They can be found in the following locations: Ryde, Newport, Freshwater, and Sandown.
