Alverstone Road, Winford

Location:

On Alverstone Road Winford, between Chambers Drive and Forest Road.

Description:

Proposed 1.6 metre wide footway linking the footway that terminates at Chambers Drive and the bus stop located near to the junction with Forest Road. The works include full depth footway construction, the repositioning of the bus stop and several signs and posts, four regraded driveways and several sections of regraded grass verge.

What we hope to achieve:

Currently there is a worn down grass verge along this side of the carriageway which can be hazardous to walk along especially in the winter when it becomes muddy, wet and slippery. We hope to provide an efficient pavement/footway for the local residents to use when walking to the bus stop, adjacent woods or other local areas.

Baring Road, Cowes

Location:

On Baring Road, Cowes, outside properties 41 and 49.

Description:

The works include three pinch points along Baring Road, they will be located outside the properties Wardwicke Cottage, Old Charlton House and property number 58. The pinch points consist of two buildouts on either side of the carriageway, several hazard marker posts and some white thermoplastic hatching applied to the carriageway surface. There is also some minor accommodation works to several properties.

What we hope to achieve:

We hope to achieve a reduction in the speed of vehicles along this section of carriageway.

Downs End/Downend Road, Arreton

Location:

At the Hares & Hounds junction, Downend Road, Arreton.

CURRENTLY UNDERGOING FEASBILITY INVESTIGATION

The Esplanade, Shanklin

Location:

At the Esplanade, Shanklin Sea front.

Description:

Proposed Traffic Calming.

CURRENTLY UNDERGOING FEASBILITY INVESTIGATION

High Street, Bembridge

Location:

On High Street Bembridge, between properties 99 and 107.

Description:

A 1.8 metre wide footway will be constructed on the South East side of the carriageway. This will link the existing footway outside property 99 to the existing footway outside property 107. The works will also include the regrading of three driveways and a 1.2 metre high Purbeck stone faced retaining wall.

What we hope to achieve:

Currently there is no footway in this location on either side of the carriageway meaning pedestrians are forced to walk in the road, we hope to solve this problem by constructing a footway to link the two existing footways on this road. This will hopefully achieve a safer pedestrian environment.

High Street, Wroxall

Location:

On High Street Wroxall, between Wallis Close and The Worsley Pub.

Description:

Proposed footway linking the footway that terminates at Wallis Close with the existing footway outside The Worsley Pub. The works also include the removal of eleven hazard marker posts, the regrading of four driveways and the realignment of four gullys.

What we hope to achieve:

Currently there is a white line and eleven hazard marker posts depicting the carriageway edge and a ‘pedestrian zone’, this is very narrow and hazardous for all pedestrian users especially those with prams or wheelchairs. We hope to improve on this by providing a footway with a 125mm kerb face and minimum width of 1.5 metres.

Main Road, Arreton

Location:

On Main Road, Arreton between the Horringford pedestrian/equestrian crossing and the old police station (opposite Haseley Manor entrance).

Description:

Proposed footway scheme.

CURRENTLY UNDERGOING FEASBILITY INVESTIGATION

Main Road, Brighstone

Location:

On Main Road, Brighstone between Moortown Lane and Moor Lane on the North side of the carriageway.

Description:

Proposed footway scheme.

CURRENTLY UNDERGOING FEASBILITY INVESTIGATION

St Johns Park & Ride, Ryde

Location:

At St Johns Train Station, Ryde.

Description:

The scheme involves clearing the existing Coal Yard at St Johns Train Station, and then turning it into a re-surfaced, re-lined and larger ‘Park & Ride’ Car Park. It also includes implementing a controlled signalised crossing and new access road at the junction with St Johns Road.

What we hope to achieve:

Currently the Train Station Car Parking area is badly overgrown with several old and disused buildings located on the site. The site has a lot of potential with space that is not currently being used.
We hope to drastically improve the area by providing a well surfaced, clearly marked out car park, with a signalised junction entrance and improved access road. This should not only provide a larger car park for rail users but also improve the aesthetic look of the area.

The Green, St Helens

Location:

On Upper Green Road, St Helens, just West of the junction with West Green & St Michaels Road.

Description:

A 1.8 metre wide footway will be constructed in the Green on the Southern side of Upper Green Road, this will link the existing Bus Stop with the existing footway outside Hope Cottage.

What we hope to achieve:

Currently there is no footway in this location on either side of the carriageway meaning pedestrians are forced to walk in the road or on a grass verge (which can become very muddy and slippery in the winter months), we hope to solve this problem by constructing a footway. This will hopefully achieve a safer pedestrian environment.

CURRENTLY UNDER FEASABILITY INVESTIGATIONS

Whitecross Lane, Shanklin

Location:

On Whitecross Lane, Shanklin, from the property Whitecross House to the entrance to the Spithead Business Park.

Description:

The works include widening the existing carriageway to 7.20 metres, and narrowing the grass verge on the Western side. The footway outside Whitecross House will also be realigned to fit the new carriage alignment.

What we hope to achieve:

We hope to achieve a wider & safer carriageway, and in the future extend the footway along this section.

Wyatts Lane, Northwood

Location:

On Wyatts Lane, Northwood, between properties 41 and 49.

Description:

A 1.8 metre wide footway will be constructed on the Eastern side of the carriageway, it will start outside the Scout Hall (property no. 49) and run North to link with the existing footway which stops outside property no. 41. The works will also include four sections of dropped kerb for the residential driveways and some minor drainage ducting underneath them.

What we hope to achieve:

Currently there is no footway in this location on either side of the carriageway meaning pedestrians are forced to walk in the road, we hope to solve this problem by constructing a footway. This will hopefully achieve a safer pedestrian environment, especially for the access to the Scout Hall.
