Isle of Wight Beaches

Introducing our award winning beaches

The Isle of Wight currently has 11 award winning beaches, including three blue flag winners, all of which are managed and maintained to the highest standard. In order for the Isle of Wight to gain these awards the beaches have to meet strict criteria as laid down by Keep Britain Tidy. For example the water quality must meet the standards of the Bathing Water Directive. For up to date results and water quality history click here.

Our beaches and esplanades are inspected daily to ensure that they are clean and safe for our visitors. When visiting our beaches please follow the guidelines to help us to maintain this standard.

As an Island we are commited to the safety of our residents and visitors and would like you to read our page on “Seaside Safety". There are many visitors to the Island so as you can appreciate there are several conflicts of interest - so it is recommended that you visit the page that contains details of the regulations and byelaws apertaining to the area you are wishing to visit

Details of all this information can be found at the information point at each location.
