Collecting Your Waste

Collection of Garden Waste

GardenWaste00
Garden waste is not collected as part of the normal collection service. If you wish to have garden waste collected from your property you must buy the specially marked garden waste sacks from one of the locations detailed below. The cost of the sacks covers the cost of collecting this waste. Any garden waste placed out for collection other than in the pre-paid sacks will not be collected.

Green sacks bought from Supermarkets and other shops are not the correct sacks and garden waste placed out for collection in such sacks will not be collected.

The sacks cost £1.20 each and are available from:

Brading Post Office

Cowes Library

Freshwater West Wight Information Centre, Madeira Road

Newport County Hall, Customer Services Desk

Newport Island Waste Services, Forest Park, Forest Road

Ryde Help Centre, High Street

Shanklin Help Centre, Falcon Cross Hall, Falcon Cross Road (Monday 10am to 4pm only)

St Helens Post Office

St Lawrence Post Office

Ventnor Winter Gardens
Ventnor Library

Wootton Community Shop

All tourist information centres

If you order 5 sacks or more, the sacks can be delivered to you by Island Waste Services. Call them on 0800 328 3851 to arrange this.

Place your filled sacks with your normal waste and they will be collected from your property on your normal collection day. When they are collected, the green waste sacks are put into a separate compartment of the refuse collection vehicle and taken to composting plant for recycling.

Alternatively you may dispose of your garden waste free of charge at any of the Civic Amenity Sites or find out more about Home Composting.
