Following the overwhelming success of the Owl &Monkey Haven's Award winning first year, the Islands newest attraction is continuing to develop in 2011.
The Haven has been created to provide a safe and enriched environment for primates and birds of prey who find themselves without a home. Like 'Hobo' the Rhesus Macaque who was rescued from a garden in Dorset and now lives happily alongside his new family here at the Haven.
This family-run self-built project has been constructed to the highest possible standards with the animals' welfare always paramount. We care for many rare and endangered species that have never been seen on the Island before and can seldom be found anywhere else in the country as well as a diverse community of animals from five continents. All of our inhabitants are in ''safe hands'' flourishing in their new homes and cared for by our team of dedicated keepers.
We welcome you to come and get to know these delightful characters, relax in a bespoke and tranquil setting and make use of our following facilities: Tea room, viewing conservatory, gift shop, play area, excellent disabled access and 'Wise Owl' Education Lodge.
We also offer birthday parties, animal encounters and adoptions, please visit www.owlandmonkeyhaven.co.uk for more details. This spring is our first year milestone and we are extremely proud of our achievements to date, most notably the commendation we received from the Island chamber of commerce in winning an Award for Excellence in 2010.
We are open all year round and with a new Lar gibbon enclosure and an adventure playground planned for 2011 this Island's newest award winning attraction is one not to be missed!
