Quarr Abbey is a working Benedictine monastery, which is home to a community of Benedictine monks who dedicate their life to prayer, contemplation and community life. The Monastery is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings and can be found just outside of Ryde, close to the ferry port. The Abbey offers free entry to the grounds, church and pilgrim’s chapel, Bookshop, Teashop &Farm-shop. Quarr Abbey has something to suit everyone. When visiting the abbey, you can wander and explore the grounds to experience the tranquil atmosphere, and enjoy the many interests on offer. You can visit the art gallery where local artists display their art work, and the bookshop, where you can buy published works by a member of the community of monks, along with other Abbey souvenirs. Visitors can enjoy the tranquillity of the popular teashop café that is located in the beautiful walled garden, an ideal place to come and relax and enjoy some food. Whether you just want a cup of tea and a slice of cake or you decide to stay for lunch and sample of our sandwiches, soups or specially prepared chef’s specials, there is something to suit everyone’s taste. The expanded Farm-shop offers visitors a wonderful range of local products, with even pig cake available to feed the resident pigs. You will also find available our own allotment grown fruit and vegetables that support local charities through the land usage scheme. Tours of the Abbey are run on the 1st Tuesday of every month and every Tuesday during the months of July and August, or you can book online at www.quarrabbey.co.uk.
Opening times & prices
Open 7 days a week (except Good Friday). Winter opening hours (5/11/12 to 25/03/2013) are weekdays 10.00am-4.00pm, Sundays 11.15am-4.00pm, and summer opening hours (25/03/2013 to 4/11/2013) weekdays 10.00am-5.00pm, Sundays 11.15am-5.00pm.

Travel and Parking
Travel:- Quarr Abbey is located just off the main Newport to Ryde road, near Fishbourne. There is a bus stop located directly outside the main abbey entrance; take bus Number 9 between Newport and Ryde or Number 4 between East Cowes and Ryde
