The Record Office holds records of a number of the Island’s hospitals. These include minutes, annual reports, accounts, correspondence and records of patients, although the quantity and range of material that survives for a particular hospital varies.

The records are subject to closure periods: patients’ records are closed for 100 years, while most other records are closed for 30 years.

The Record Office holds the records of the Island's workhouse known as the ‘House of Industry’. This was established by an Act of Parliament in 1771
