Arreton church from the South West
The Architectural Antiquities of the Isle of Wight by Percy Goddard Stone
pub. 1891

In 1894 the ancient parish of Arreton was divided under the Local Government Act into North and South. The following year part of North Arreton was added to Ashey civil parish, and the remainder of the North became part of Whippingham civil parish under a Local Government Board Order of 1907.
