The illustrations below have been taken from a survey dated 1771 of land in the Isle of Wight in the ownership of George Lord Edgcumbe. This document lists all island properties owned by Lord Edgcumbe and records the name of the property, the field names and acreages, the tenant, the lease date, the names of those on whose lives the lease is held and in most cases their ages. The information contained in this type of document is invaluable to both local and family historians.
