In most cases, your weekly collection day will be one day later for a two week period, apart from Christmas Day and Christmas Eve where collections will be earlier.

- Thursday 27 December will be collected on Friday 28 December.

- Friday 28 December will be collected on Saturday 29 December.

- Monday 31 December - No change.

- Tuesday 1 January will be collected on Wednesday 2 January.

- Wednesday 2 January will be collected on Thursday 3 January.

- Friday 4 January will be collected on Saturday 5 January.

General advice

In icy conditions, households are asked to put any waste out for collection on the correct day before 7am and not the night before. This is because bags can freeze to the road surface if left overnight and can split when picked up.

If you collection is cancelled due to snow conditions, please remove any bags from the kerbside and store them in your property until your next collection day.

The council will once again this year be encouraging people to recycle their Christmas trees. Trees can be left from 28 December to Wednesday 9 January at designated areas in car parks at Brighstone village, Ventnor Botanic Garden car park, East Cowes Esplanade, New Road car park in Lake, Waltzing Waters car park in Ryde and Somerton park and ride.

Artificial trees cannot be recycled and should not be included at these sites.

Recycle your cards

People should hold on to their Christmas cards and recycle them in their wheelie bins.

The civic amenity site at Lynnbottom will be open as usual from 7am to 7pm throughout the festive period apart from Christmas Day. Afton and Forest Road (which are usually open at weekends only) will be open between 9.30am and 4.30pm on 22 and 23 December, 29 to 30 December and also 5 to 6 January.

The household recycling centre at Forest Road will be open between 9.30am and 4.30pm on 23 December, 30 December and 6 January.
