Waste collections

Running as normal -

We have been looking at how we can clear the accumulations of waste bags that have resulted from us being unable to collect as usual on Friday because of the snowy conditions.

We have now agreed with our street cleansing contractor Urbaser and with Island Waste Services for five ‘caged’ vehicles to be deployed today (Tuesday) to collect as many of these bags as possible.

These vehicles will be deployed first in Newport where a ‘black bag’ collection was missed. If there is time and capacity, we will then move to other areas – East Cowes and Wootton/Binstead - where the weather prevented the collecting of recyclable waste.

The capacity of these vehicles is however limited and we would appeal to householders who are able to keep hold of their waste until the next scheduled collection to do so.
