Medina Leisure Centre refurbishment update

The new state of the art Tone Zone gym, activity studio and dry-side changing rooms at Medina Leisure Centre in Newport will open on 1 March 2013.

This is slightly later than originally planned after some additional works were required as part of the construction of the steel structure that will house the gym.

The current ToneZone gym remains open as normal.

The leisure centre is currently undergoing the first of three phases of major refurbishment as part of a multi-million pound investment by the council across its leisure facilities.

This change will have an impact on the programme of works as a whole. Phase two, which will see new bar, cafe and toilet facilities, will be completed at the end of April and the refurbished pool, plant and wet-side changing rooms will be ready on 7 June.

Phase three, which includes refurbishing the female dry-side changing rooms and setting up a new meeting and training room, will be finished on 23 August.

Medina Leisure Centre will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, plus there are changes to opening times and activities throughout the holiday period. Details of these can be found at www.iwight.com/leisure
