Lights of Love Parade to be held next year

The annual Lights of Love parade, organised by the Isle of Wight Council's bereavement service, will be held at Easter next year.

This is due to ongoing construction and refurbishment works at the Isle of Wight Crematorium.

John Metcalfe, council deputy director for economy and environment, said: "It is disappointing that we will not be able to hold the annual service at the crematorium over the Christmas period this year. Many parts of the building are currently subject to essential improvement and refurbishment works which it is not possible to work around so that the parade can go ahead.

"Staff had looked at alternate venues but none were available. We are sorry that we are not able to hold the annual parade this year but we hope to host an event around Easter, and the parade will be hosted as normal next year."

The Lights of Love Service was first held in 2002 at the Isle of Wight Crematorium. Anyone needing more information can contact the bereavement service on (01983) 882288.
