Question: What is the Crime and Drugs Strategy?

Answer: This is a requirement of the 1998 Crime and Disorder act which places a responsibility upon ‘responsible bodies’ i.e IOW Council, Hampshire Constabulary to conduct a crime and drugs audit on the Island this takes the form of Crime and Drugs Statistical information plus a detailed consultation with the community concerning their perceptions of crime and disorder. The 2005-2008 strategy has just been completed the main themes are:-

Managing the Night Time Economy

Violence

Overall Crime

Antisocial Behaviour and Disorder

Partnership Working and Communication

Young People
