REASON FOR SELECT COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION

To update members on progress of the improvement areas identified in the 3 Best Value Reviews that are being monitored at this stage.

ACTION REQUIRED BY THE SELECT COMMITTEE

Good progress is being made with all recommendations and improvements towards the five year span of the Best Value Improvement Plans. The Select Committee are asked to note progress to date.

BACKGROUND

The Fire Control and Communications Best Value Review was approved by the Executive Committee in 2001. The Procurement Improvement Plan following the Best Value Review was approved by members in 2002 as was the Community Fire Safety Improvement Plan approved by members on 7 May 2002.

APPENDICES ATTACHED

The recommendations and improvements contained are drawn together in separate improvement plans and a summary of progress is attached as Appendix A.
