REASON FOR SELECT COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION

The Select Committee has been invited to consider the proposals approved by the Executive, at its meeting on 18 June 2003, in relation to the future leasing and sale arrangements of Council-owned homes.

BACKGROUND

The Executive considered a report by the Portfolio Holder for Resources in connection with negotiations and discussions that had been undertaken over the past two years on the proposed transfer of Council-owned homes.

The Executive approved the new lease and proposed sale arrangements as set out in the report. The Portfolio Holder for Resources did indicate that the decision would not be implemented until after the Select Committee had considered the matter.

The Portfolio Holder for Resources will be in attendance at the meeting together with the Head of Property Services to give an outline of the proposals.

FINANCIAL, LEGAL, CRIME AND DISORDER IMPLICATIONS

These are indicated in the attached appendix.
